Some might say I’m a sauce freak - I don’t go overboard about many things, but vegan sauces? I love them.

This homemade recipe for chipotle aioli sauce is my go-to for two reasons: it’s ridiculously easy to whip up and has so few ingredients I don’t even need to check back with the recipe because I have it memorized.

This chipotle sauce is similar to Easy No Egg Aioli Recipe and just one of my 5 in 5 sauces - five ingredients in five minutes.

If you like making sauces and dressings at home as much as I do, I have a quick and easy method you can learn in How to Make Homemade Vegan Sauces.

  • There are many brands of vegan mayo on the market today. I've never met one I didn't like, but one of the brands I currently buy is Follow Your Heart.
  • I buy one small can of chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, which lasts for many batches of this sauce. You can find the cans of chipotle pepper in adobo sauce in the Latin section of all major grocery chains.

Top Tip

  • Taste and adjust the seasoning as needed, adding more salt or lime juice to taste. Adjust the viscosity by adding more water to make it thinner or adding more mayo to thicken.
  • Chill for 30 to 60 minutes so the flavors can meld together.

Serving Suggestions

  • This is a perfect dipping sauce for veggies, delicious air fryer fries, air fryer red potatoes, or tofu bites.
  • Use it as a dressing for salads, burrito bowls or a vegan taco bowl.
  • Add it to vegan burgers like chipotle black bean burgers for an extra kick of flavor.
  • Use it as a topping for tacos, burritos, or vegan black bean tostadas.
  • Before grilling or baking, use it as a marinade for tofu, tempeh, or portobello mushrooms.
  • Drizzle it over roasted vegetables such as roasted chickpea croutons, cauliflower, broccoli, or carrots. Yum.
  • Try drizzling over high protein tofu scramble or smoked tofu.

Can I make chipotle aioli spicier?

You can add more chipotle peppers or some of the adobo sauce to make it spicier. Just be careful not to overdo it if you're sensitive to spice.

Chipotle peppers in adobo sauce are smoked and dried jalapeño peppers that have been rehydrated and canned in a tangy, slightly sweet tomato-based sauce.
