Peanut Butter & Banana Roll-Ups

Published: Jun 24, 2025 by Regi Pearce · This post may contain affiliate links · 1 Comment

These Peanut Butter & Banana Roll-Ups are a simple, no-cook lunchbox win perfect for busy mornings, picnics, park days, road trips, or even after-school snacks. Made with just three ingredients - soft tortillas, creamy peanut butter, and sweet, ripe bananas - these wraps are easy to prepare and ready in under five minutes.

We’ve made these banana peanut butter pinwheels more times than I can count. My youngest used to call them “banana burritos,” and honestly, it fits. Whether you roll them up whole or slice them into pinwheels, these easy PB wraps never come back uneaten.

These Peanut Butter & Banana Roll-Ups join the ranks of my go-to lunch ideas like the Mini Hummus & Veggie Pinwheels, Easy Quinoa Fusilli Pasta Salad, and Chili & Cornbread Munchables. They’ve been kid-tested, mom-approved, and eaten so fast I barely got a photo… which is basically the gold standard around here.

Whether it’s a No-Mayo Chickpea Salad scooped into sliders, Eggless Salad Pocket Sandwiches, or Apple and Veggie Quesadillas tossed together while your coffee reheats, these are the kinds of school lunches that make you look like you’ve got your act together even when the morning’s been anything but.

Why I Love This Recipe

  • These roll-ups are even faster than my Nut Butter & Jelly Roll Ups. They come together in 5 minutes.
  • It's a classic combination of peanut butter and banana that always hits the spot.
  • Easy to pack
  • Minimal cleanup
  • Great for breakfast, lunchboxes, or snack time
  • Customizable with add-ins like chia seeds, cinnamon, or a chocolate drizzle

Ingredients

Flat lay of ingredients for peanut butter and banana roll-ups, including a package of Trader Joe’s Sonora Style Flour Tortillas, a bunch of bananas, and a jar of creamy no-stir peanut butter. Optional additions like chia seeds and cinnamon are noted in text.
  • Tortillas: One thing you’ll want for easy rolling is soft tortillas. I like using the Senora Style tortillas from Trader Joe’s, but any soft tortilla will do. Choose a size that closely matches the size of your banana so you're not chopping off too much of the ends.

See the printable recipe card for suggested quantities and a complete list of ingredients.

Variations

  • Sprinkle in hemp seeds, flax, or chia for extra nutrition.
  • Use a vegan Nutella for variation or sunflower butter for a gluten-free option.
  • Sprinkle in mini chocolate chips
  • Add a pinch of flaky sea salt or crushed pretzels inside for crunch.
  • Add crushed cereal or granola for texture.
  • Drizzle with maple syrup or dust with cinnamon sugar before rolling.

How To Make Peanut Butter & Banana Roll-Ups

It doesn't get easier than these 3-ingredient peanut butter and banana wraps. See the complete printable recipe card below for more details.

Step-by-step visual of making peanut butter and banana roll-ups—three tortillas shown in stages: one topped with peanut butter and a banana, one partially rolled, and one fully rolled on a light surface.

Step 1: Lay out a tortilla and spread a generous layer of peanut butter (or any nut/seed butter) evenly across the surface. Place a peeled banana near the edge and begin rolling the tortilla tightly around it.

A hand slicing peanut butter and banana roll-ups into bite-sized pieces on a wooden cutting board. Rolled tortillas are neatly cut into pinwheels.

Step 2: Using a sharp knife, slice the rolled tortilla into bite-sized pinwheels.

Top Tips

  • If your banana is smaller than the tortilla, just trim off the empty tortilla ends.
  • If your banana is too long, slice off the overhang and - bonus! -You get a snack while you work.
  • If you have a toddler who may struggle with a whole banana, slice the banana into coins for a flatter and more small-mouth-friendly wrap.
  • A pliable wrap makes rolling easier and prevents tearing. Heat in a microwave for 10 seconds if needed to soften. Room temperature works best for rolling.

Serving Suggestions

  • Pack in a bento box or picnic basket with fruit like oranges or grapes and crunchy veggie sticks.
  • Toss in a cookie like Banana Bread Chocolate Chip Cookies.

Recipe FAQS

Can I make these roll-ups ahead of time?

I don’t recommend making these too far ahead. Bananas can get a little sad and brown if they sit too long. They’re best fresh, but they’ll hold up fine through the school day and are fine if made the night before.

What if my child attends a nut-free school?

If your school is nut-free, swap in sunflower seed butter or another school-safe spread to keep their lunchbox-friendly.

Can I freeze these PB banana tortilla roll-ups?

I don't. The banana gets soft and darker when thawed. Not their best look unless blended into Vegan Banana Ice Cream.

I’ve packed these for school lunches, road trips, and even picnics at the park and they’re always a hit! I love how quick they are to make, and my kids never complain when they see them in their lunchbox (which, let’s be honest, is the real test).
