A good Cajun seasoning should have the perfect mix of smoky, spicy, herby, and savory elements. This blend is a middle ground between mild and fiery and hits all those other notes perfectly.

Cajun seasoning is a year-round staple, but it’s especially popular during Mardi Gras, summer BBQ season, and cozy fall and winter cooking.

My Vegan Cajun Pasta inspired this blend but it also pairs well with crispy roasted potatoes or tofu. If you want to level up your seasoning blends, this homemade mix is a must-have!

Why You'll Love This Recipe

  • This blend, as written, is not too mild, not too fiery, just the right kick!
  • It's fresh, customizable, and no weird additives.
  • Works on pasta, tofu, veggies, soups.
  • Mix a few pantry spices, and you’re set for 6 months.
  • Adjust the heat, salt, or herbs to your taste!

Ingredients

Paprika: Use a mix of smoked and sweet paprika for the perfect balance - I like a lighter, smoky touch for just the right kick.

See the recipe card for adjustable quantities and a full list of ingredients.

Variations

  • Mix in a little lemon zest for a bright, fresh flavor.
  • Add a pinch of brown sugar for a super subtle, sweet-smoky contrast. This is especially good with Delicious Air-Fryer Fries.

How To Make Cajun Seasoning Blend

Just like Homemade Taco Seasoning and Creole Seasoning Recipe, this one is so easy you don't even need the directions in the recipe card. Just combine the ingredients and mix well.

Serving Suggestions

  • Add to sheet pan roasted vegetables.
  • Rub onto tofu, tempeh, or seitan before pan-searing or air-frying.
  • Sprinkle over hot fries or popcorn.
  • Stir in vegan soups and stews.

Okay, I might be biased, but this homemade Cajun seasoning is great. It’s the perfect balance of smoky, spicy, and herby, and I love that I can adjust the heat to my mood (because some days, I’m feeling bold, and others… not so much). I’ve been using it on everything—pasta, roasted veggies, tofu, even popcorn—and it never disappoints. If you try it, let me know what you think!
